Melissa Gallagher | Director of Revenue

Melissa Gallagher is a revenue generating expert with deep knowledge and experience in revenue management, marketing, social media, e-commerce, and sales. Most of her hotel career unfolded in the dynamic Chicago market, where she held roles in Expedia market management, hotel social media/e-commerce management, national group sales, and finally revenue management – her true passion. Working in each of these fields lends a special aptitude for collaborating across disciplines to create compelling offers that fulfill business needs and maximize top line revenue performance. Her love for systems and passion for new technology (she negotiated the first Groupon offer ever in the hotel space, and created the social media accounts for the Hard Rock Hotel Chicago before it was common) make her both a visionary and an expert in execution. A keen editorial eye (her first job was to write and edit descriptions for bed and breakfasts), helps ensure that strategies are successfully implemented and packaged as compelling offers for hotel guests. Melissa’s ability to relay complex revenue management concepts into simple explanations makes her especially apt at presenting to audiences without revenue management backgrounds, and she is particularly skilled and passionate about training, mentoring, and encouraging aspiring revenue managers.

Melissa lives in Traverse City, Michigan (which she would describe as “paradise on earth…in the summer”) with her husband, Chris. She loves spending time on the water on a pontoon boat, golfing, and touring wineries. In the winter she likes to drink old fashioneds and shoot pool (she was once on a nine ball team that won the APA Chicago citywide and earned a trip to the APA Las Vegas finals). She has completed three Ironman triathlons, but now considers herself a retired triathlete and enjoys more casual mountain bike rides on singletrack trails or vinyasa yoga classes. She is an enthusiastic supporter and volunteer of Girls on the Run, an organization that helps young girls build self-esteem through running; she is also the co-chair of the education committee for the local Women in Leadership organization.
